Gurugram: On the occasion of World Spine Day, Artemis Hospital, Gurugram organized a spinal health and well-being campaign. The objective of the campaign was to create awareness among people about the importance of physical activity, good posture, responsible lifting and healthy working conditions. People were encouraged to look after their spines and stay active as this pandemic has hit us all and has completely disturbed the routine life.
The event witnessed various activities and interactive sessions conducted by the team of experts including Dr. Hitesh Garg, Head Ortho Spine Surgery & Dr. Himanshu Tyagi, Sr. Consultant Orthopedics & Spine Surgery. They interacted through a live webinar. The panel of experts had highlighted the importance of Neuromonitoring, 3D Imaging during Surgery & two surgeons approach which leads to high success rates and improves surgical results.
Dr. Hitesh Garg said, “We are getting two sets of patients; one is the group of patients who, after recovering from Covid-19, stopped going out. Their activity levels decreased and subsequently this led to increase in their weight, resulting in pain and stiffness in weight bearing joints. Similarly, in the other set of patients, we are seeing an increase in the number of people suffering from arthritis as we are receiving cases of joint pain mainly due to the new work from home culture.”
As a part of the awareness drive, the hospital also organized ‘Safe Spine Surgery Month’ in the premises. The team urged people to always take precautionary measures to avoid any complications.
